Coffee and Pie

With Lucy recovering from her operation we have spent a lot of time at home, which calls for cooking and pretending our kitchen is a cafe. We made chicken pies, berry tarts (with ice-cream) and had lots of coffee's and hot chocolates. Oh now reality has set in and Lucy is getting better and I have to go back to work tomorrow (sigh).

We put up the Christmas tree and the wreath is on the front door, now all I have to do is wrap some pressies and pack for our holiday to Tasmania. I am looking forward to getting away from Perth for a while and seeing some mountains and sailing on the Huon River.

Five

A big week of Lucy turning five.

The biggest cupcake of all was baked and decorated by Lucy and myself and we had a fun morning tea with friends at Mrs S. A bit of pampering in the afternoon and and the search has begun for a new kitten to join our family, we have not found the right one yet, hopefully soon.

The Weekend Was

Starting to renovate our bedroom !
A full coverage of Antique White Paint should do the job to get rid of the dirty creamy colour that currently clads the walls. We sanded back the windows and the door and I painted them in white gloss. A new light fixture and some new curtains should just about do the job.

Lucy painted for a while then helped me make cream cheese icing for some cupcakes and then we made a delicious muesli slice for afternoon tea, thanks to my Mum for this recipe:

Muesli Slice
125gm butter
1/4 cup golden syrup
1 cup of rolled oats
1/2 cup sultanas, dried cranberries, chopped apricots
1/4 cup chopped almonds
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup SR Flour

Line a 20x30cm slice tin
Preheat oven to 180C

Melt butter with golden syrup over a low heat.
Put all other ingredients into a bowl and mix
Add butter-syrup mixture, stir to combine.

Press into the tin.
Bake for 20-25 mins or until golden.

allow to completely cool in the dine before cutting into slices.

Perfect with a cuppa.

The Weekend Was...

Finishing the guest room/quiet room. It was a very dirty green when we started
and quite a small room so we freshened it up with Dulux Antique White
and trims in Gloss White.
Making Lemon Butter... making the most out of our lemon tree before
we have to cut it down to landscape the backyard.

drying out macadamia nuts from the tree in our front yard.

It was also...
a fun afternoon with friends
red velvet cupcake delivery from a special neighbour
a win to the Dockers - happy hubby
drawing, making puppets and reading books
