Silk Paper Felting

I went to another lovely felting workshop at Pauline's the other day and learnt how to make silk paper and create a pattern to put into felt pieces, it was a lovely process and now I just have to finish the stitching to complete the piece. One of the nice things about being on holidays is the amount of crafty time I have.

Japanese & A Bunny Head

I have not come across many 'crafty' shops in Barcelona but I did find this fantastic Japanese Fabric Shop in a pokey little cobblestone lane. It is called Nunoya and the shop is  divine. I bought a few pieces for my 'round europe' hexagon quilt. The little felt brooch I found in a small south american shop, only 3 euros. I have found other brooches but small handmade things here are quite expensive.

I am still tossing up which colour of ballet flats to buy. Happy Days. 

We head off to Valencia tomorrow, I am looking forward to picking up our Citroen and heading around the coast to the smaller towns, which I have been told are where the real craft is.

Birthday Present

I was happy with this way this little felt Babushka turned out, she looks like she is from the 1920's. I put her in an Antique Garden Glass Dome I found in a wonderful new shop I found in Subiaco. I think I will call her Bella. She is a birthday present for a gorgeous girl.

Felted Flowers

I am having a very crafty week this week. I learnt how to make Felt Flowers at another one of Paulines fantastic classes. It is such a beautiful medium to work with and the way these flowers are done is amazing, all layers and then you cut open the finished product to reveal the centre of the flower.

Now back to the sewing machine, I am attempting a petal flower cushion in gorgeous French Fabrics I bought with my birthday voucher from Calico & Ivy. Alas I spent the whole voucher and have to save for my next trip to Calico ! C'est la vie...

Felties

I began making these little felties with my crafty friend Daniela last year. She introduced me to a gorgeous book called Felties and we went nuts making these little hand stitched dolls. I hung some on my Christmas Tree and made a few for presents at Christmas time. They are completely hand done and require a pot of tea and a block of chocky, however they bring such joy.

Babushka Felt Dolls

I learnt to felt in 2009 with a lady called Pauline, she has her own felting business and the classes are pure joy. Felting is addictive and so far I have made pictures, dolls, brooches and other bits. I still love the Babushka Dolls the most. It is hands on and the dolls all turn out so differently, no two are the same. I have experiemented with pre-felts, sewing on buttons and stitching and they all have their unique little face.
